Heratio Framework — Modern archival management built on proven archival foundations.

Heratio Framework is an open-source heritage management platform developed by The Archive and Heritage Group, drawing on years of experience implementing and supporting AtoM-based archival solutions. Built to support galleries, libraries, archives, and museums within a single environment, Heratio extends proven archival principles into a broader, modern digital heritage ecosystem while remaining grounded in internationally recognised standards.

Designed with long-term sustainability and interoperability in mind, Heratio combines a modern Laravel-based architecture with support for standards such as ISAD(G), RiC-O, ISAAR(CPF), MARC21, Dublin Core, Spectrum 5.1, CIDOC CRM, IIIF, and more. This allows institutions to manage diverse collections, digital assets, and heritage records through a flexible platform that can evolve alongside changing organisational and technological needs.

Recognising the significant investment many institutions have already made in AtoM, Heratio has been developed with compatibility and continuity at its core. Its alignment with familiar archival data structures enables organisations to transition existing collections with minimal disruption, preserving valuable metadata while providing access to modern capabilities such as semantic search, multilingual access, digital heritage workflows, and emerging AI-assisted tools.
